Waterproof woven fabric, wiped with a damp cloth and a bit of soap. Milk and puree come off. Ground-in banana needs a second pass. It does not go in a washing machine, and nothing on the listing claims it does.
Non-slip suction cups underneath keep the pen from sliding when a baby pushes on a wall, and the side panels are breathable mesh so you can see in from across the room. On thick carpet the suction cups do less, and the pen will creep.
