Assembly & Care

What building day actually looks like, and what to do six weeks later.

Time and tools

An 82-inch slide set takes most people under an hour with the printed instructions and the assembly video. The Elk frames go faster. Playpens stand up in about twenty minutes with no tools at all. The toy storage frame needs a screwdriver and nothing else, and the hardware is in the box.

Build it where it will live

An assembled 82-inch frame does not fit through a standard doorway on the diagonal. Carry the carton to the room first. People who build in the garage and then discover this have to take the slide apart again, and the second assembly is always worse than the first.

Retighten the screws after a few weeks

This is the step everybody skips and the one that matters most. HDPE panels settle under a child's weight and the screws that were tight on day one are not tight on day forty. Go around the frame once with the screwdriver, paying attention to the swing bracket. Ten minutes, twice a year.

Indoors is where this belongs

The certifications cover materials and impact, not years of ultraviolet light. A slide left on a patio through a summer goes chalky and brittle at the edges. If yours spends good weather outside, bring it in before winter.

Taking it apart for storage

Keep the hardware bag taped to the inside of the largest panel. That single habit is the difference between a set that gets passed to a cousin and a set that goes to the curb because nobody can find the screws.
